My space

In case it wasn't obvious with the amount of posts I've thrown out there in the past 48 hours, I've had a couple of days off of work and it was great to be able to get my teeth into the blog without any interruptions.
It was a productive couple of days if not a little bit dangerous.
The productive part included, entering The Watch Gallery competition for the chance to win £100 asos vouchers (check out my Chanel J12 post), starting correspondence with one of my current favourite jewellery designers at the moment, Groove Lines and being asked to photograph some amazing upholstered fabric designs by Donna Louise (check her out here).
The dangerous part, however, involved me drumming up a massive wish list after searching for trend reports and being sent my daily fashion newsletters (payday always feels like a moving target when your waiting for it!!)

Just thought I would conclude what's been happening as I'm about to get ready to get back to work again... all good things come to an end!

Folklore

I woke up this morning to my Topshop newsletter telling me that fashion is taking on a boho mood this spring... it was as though it was a personal memo after my shout out to fringing only a few hours before, so you can imagine how excited I am to start seeing this look in the shops.
Of course though, Topshop is straight on the bandwagon and my wishlist is packed already.

I shortlisted five of my favourites here.

All are so wearable and I am head over heels in love with the macrame vest.
A flawless look for spring/summer paired with some cleated heel sandals but can effortlessly be carried over to autumn/winter with a pair of chunky ankle boots and over the knee socks.
An item so versatile is an absolute steal at £40.00!

The catwalk have been hitting hard with the fringing as well. If there is one thing I love more than folklore fringing it's folklore fringing with a Peruvian twist and Valentino has got this bang on.
Going to be an exciting spring/summer for my wardrobe!

Fanatic about Fringing

Suede fringe bag - Gucci
Fringed leather skirt - Tamara Mellon
Chevron fringed jacket - Tim Ryan

Hi, I'm Emily and I'm addicted to fringing!
Just had my daily feed from style.com and was insanely hyped to see the appearance of fringed items!!
I haven't mentioned it yet but I am mad for fringing.
Shoes, bags, belts, jackets, skirts, waistcoats, you name it I love it even more if it's fringed!

Check out the feed here for style.com other current shopping and trend reports.

The Face of the Blog

So, the face of The Cloth Blog is an illustration I drew a few years ago and I thought it would be cool to get it onto a t-shirt. With a sharpie pen and some rubbing alcohol being my choice of weapons, I attacked the tee and this was how it ended!
It's pretty awesome wearing your own creations even if they are as simply made as this.
This has also reminded me that I said I was going to do some shoots to showcase the collections I made that I re-discovered in the garage [note to self made!]

Soft Tailoring

So, the pre-determined trend reports of fall include my classic favourite - sharp tailoring and the catwalks have been showcasing some killer looks. I particularly like the white Michael Kors suit with its structured blazor yet relaxed bottoms - incredible! And the utterly effortless oversized look from Lanvin.

Angelina Jolie was rocking a Saint Laurent suit on the red carpet this week, I adore the skinny suit bottoms that make a formal ensemble look extremely wearable and Next have a stunning slim fit blazer and trouser combo that replicate this beautifully.

Isn't it great when you discover a catwalk look you love on the high-street!

Chanel J12

1926 – Black is officially in.
Echoing the simplicity and elegance of Coco Chanel’s ‘little black dress’ this stunningly crafted Chanel sports watch I found on The Watch Gallery, Chanel J12 in black, stands by its designers principle that black is always fashionable.
Ever since the dawn of the LBD, long gowns were worn for formal occasions and the simple black dress was worn for everything else – and where Chanel has the Première for its long gown, the J12 is that watch for the everything else.
Perfect for the everyday apparels that require sophisticated practicality.
The sapphire crystals embedded into the dial are so subtle that on those days where elegance isn’t always a requirement, they are a comfort for those who live by the fact that elegance is a necessity.
So whether it is worn for your daily workout or for those lazy days where tracksuit is on and make up is off, the Chanel J12 stands as bold and essential as the LBD.
Simple, understated elegance.

Black Out

!--BEGIN HYPE WIDGET-->

Feather earring - Primark
Black lace dress - eBay
Faux leather leggings - eBay
Burgundy heels - River Island
Faux leather biker jacket - h&m
Chain and tassel bag - Bessie

So, following on from my previous post of reviving lost items in my wardrobe I reunited myself with this gorgeous lace dress I bought on eBay a couple of years ago. It's so versatile and is one of those items that can be worn so many different ways to suit so many different occasions. [note to self - Black dress, 3 ways' post] I've gone for the more bold option here but with a shirt over the top the dress becomes an awesome maxi skirt or worn over jeans it morphs an edgy midnight look into a more quirky daytime apparel.

Just Another Day

White sleeveless shirt - eBay
Knitted jumper - Mango
Chain necklace - gift
Faux leather and suede miniskirt - h&m
Red suede clutch - antique store
Black heels - eBay

Like so many things in my wardrobe I let myself forget about this gorgeous black miniskirt.
It's so easy to go through phases of favourite outfits that you go through a cycle of ignoring previously loved ensembles so I have now vowed to myself that I will start to through a bit more love into my wardrobe and revive some forgotten items!

Free Spirited

Black hat - h&m
Suede tassel waistcoat - vintage store
Maxi skirt - Topshop
Suede bag - market in Peru
Black shoes - Topshop

I have always loved the bohemian look, a style that has always been timeless in fashion but I have noticed most recently how versatile it can be with the seasons. With the punch of red suede in this outfit it brings an autumnal warmth to the look. I know I keep going on about the weather and how me and my army of spring outfits are fighting against the cold but I find it can really be difficult pulling together a look that isn't always ruined by a big heavy coat! I'm fighting a losing battle at the moment...but fighting all the same!

Doily

Hat - h&m
Batwing cardigan - nan's hand me down
Lace dress - h&m
Over knee socks - ebay
Black heels with tassel and chain - Topshop

Managed to snap a quick photo of my days outfit before our beautiful English weather came down in all its glory. Love the boho feel of it... the optimism of spring to come!
The lace dress can be paired with any coloured slip but I am a sucker for black and think it pairs up really well with the hat and cardigan. Gutted I wasn't able to shoot some more photos so I think I'll have to re-take soon to snap it in all its awesomeness!

Fur

Hat - H&M
Necklace - Topshop
Bracelets - Topshop
Bag - Antique fair
Cardigan - Vintage store
Jeans - Topshop
Shoes - eBay

Even though spring is in sight the weather is undoubtedly getting colder before it gives up and my trusty fur coat has been my saviour this season.

Long and Sweet

Oversized sleeve crop knit - Designed and made by myself
Harem trousers - Camden Market
Orange stilettos - eBay

After rummaging through my mums garage the other day I came across a suitcase with a few pieces I made for a fashion show a few years back. I'm cursing myself that I've let them get neglected and I was overwhelmed with a reminiscent feeling of excitement, a feeling that slowly diminished after I packed away my sewing machine to go travelling. So home came the suitcase and I am planning some shoots to bring the outfits back to life again...

Felicity Brown

Whilst flicking through the pages of Elle I came across the designer Felicity Brown and I am mesmerised by her creations!!

The thing that fascinates me most about fashion is that the origin of all creations is cloth. Then you see a metamorphosis when this cloth is manipulated.
The hand dying in particular is drumming up some ideas so I'm off to go ebay some fabric dye!
